Wanda Ings is one trainer celebrating Sydney's wet weather with Two Towers expected to relish the conditions in Saturday's Winter Cup at Rosehill.

Two Towers chased gamely to finish second to Scouting Wide in the Listed McKell Cup on May 22 over the same 2400m journey as this weekend's Listed feature.

And with more rain expected to fall before Saturday, another wet track is expected which certainly doesn't faze the Hawkesbury-based Ings.

"We have been celebrating, doing the rain dance," Ings said.

Two Towers finished second to Niwot in last year's Winter Cup on a heavy (8) and Ings believes the six-year-old gelding will go into this year's renewal in even better condition.

"We are probably a race more forward than we were last year when he ran second in the Winter Cup," Ings said.

"We were kind of battling with him but this year we're a bit more advanced and we're pretty happy heading into the race."

Peter Wells had his first ride on the stayer in last year's Winter Cup and has been aboard in eight of his 11 starts since, including the most recent, the McKell Cup.

He retains the ride on Saturday with Ings impressed with the rider's tactics on the gelding in the McKell Cup.

Scouting Wide sat just off Warringah in the lead before Tye Angland set him alight coming to the 600m mark, putting the acid test to the rest of his rivals.

Wells, who had Two Towers back in ninth position, crept forward along the fence turning for home and then went out after Scouting Wide but failed by three-quarters of a length as a $61 chance.

Bellagio Wynn, who will be one of Two Towers' Winter Cup rivals on Saturday, was 3-1/2-lengths away third.

"The horses are a little bit slick for him on top of the ground, and the track the other day (dead 5) was probably even a bit better than what he usually performs well on," Ings said.

"They can really get away from him on top of the ground when they sprint because he travels so far back, but what I liked last start was that Peter snuck up before the turn which gave him a good crack at them.

"Sometimes he can just run on down the outside for a nice fourth or fifth, but we were ecstatic that he got home for second. And he's always going to be a better horse in the wet."

Two Towers was given 54.5kg when weights were released on Tuesday with Bellagio Wynn and Lord Mayor's Cup winner Common Objective topweights with 58kg.

Ings is hoping to progress to the Stayer's Cup (3200m) at Rosehill later this month with Two Towers.

"We've always thought he was capable of running two miles," Ings said.

"I'd love to test him in it (the Stayer's Cup)."
