Typhoon Tracy's younger half-sister Tracy's Choice will earn a Sydney trip ahead of an ambitious Brisbane winter carnival campaign if she accomplishes a huge task in the Listed Bright Shadow Handicap at Doomben.

Tracy's Choice stamped herself a top-class filly with a big future and earned rave reviews from jockey Glen Colless after winning on debut in class record time at Doomben in November.

The Redoute's Choice filly, who was subsequently runner-up at Caloundra at her only other start in December, is taking the giant leap from class one grade into open company in Saturday's 1200-metre feature.

Trainer Mick Lakey and part-owner, shoe retailer John Hutchins, have big opinions of Tracy's Choice who had a few minor leg issues before making her first racetrack appearance.

Lakey has warned Tracy's Choice won't be wound up for her first-up assignment despite winning a 960-metre barrier trial by four lengths at Eagle Farm a month ago.

He has never seen Typhoon Tracy, other than watching the glamour mare win on television, but rates his filly as near identical in appearance to the multiple Group One winner.

Typhoon Tracy took her Group One tally to five when she easily won the Queen Of The Turf (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

"They're very much alike but I understand my filly is slightly bigger than Typhoon Tracy," Lakey said.

Lakey plans to send Tracy's Choice to Sydney for the Listed James HB Carr Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 24 if she races up to expectations at only her third race start.

"It's a big call to step her up to this grade so quick but she's very promising," Lakey said.

"If she runs well we'll take her to Sydney for one run in the James Carr then come back for the winter races here.

"I ride her a lot in her trackwork and she gives me the impression she'll run a distance so at this stage we're looking at the Queensland Guineas with her.

"But if she shows us before then that she'll get further we'll aim for the Queensland Oaks."

The Group One Queensland Oaks (2400m) will be run at Eagle Farm on June 5 with the Group Two Queensland Guineas (1600m) on the same track a week later.

"I don't think she's really a sprinter and on her trackwork I think 1200 metres is too short for her," Lakey said.

"But she's got the ability to step up to this grade and I expect her to run well."

Lakey's plans with Tracy's Choice also include the major spring races in Melbourne if her form during the winter measures up.

Tracy's Choice will be ridden by Michael Cahill as Colless is unable to ride the filly on the 53 kilogram minimum.

Colless declared Tracy's Choice was "something special" after partnering her in her maiden win last year.
