Bart Cummings' hopes of a Doomben 10,000 victory were washed away and Swick and Empires Choice will now tune up for the Stradbroke Handicap in separate barrier trials on Tuesday.
Group One winner Swick was an early withdrawal from Saturday's Doomben 10,000 while Empires Choice came out on race morning.
"It was just too wet," Cummings said.
"Swick didn't go too badly on it in Sydney but it wasn't like Doomben on Saturday.
"I didn't want to hurt Empires Choice by running him on that.
"They will both trial on Tuesday and are both still going to the Stradbroke."
Empires Choice has been entered for Saturday's QTC Cup (1300m) which has received 39 nominations.
The winner of the QTC Cup earns automatic entry to the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 6.
Among the borderline Stradbroke starters is second favourite Ortensia who is entered for Saturday's Group Two qualifier.
The Tony Noonan-trained Ortensia was at $6 for the Stradbroke on TAB Sportsbet's Monday market with All Silent the $4.50 favourite.
Black Piranha, runner-up to Apache Cat in the Doomben 10,000 was at $7 alongside Bank Robber.
Double Dare, third in the 2008 Stradbroke, is also entered for the QTC Cup as is last year's winner Mr Baritone.
Belong To Many, who is assured of a Stradbroke start, is entered for both the Cup and the Group Three Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m).
Ortensia is also a Dane Ripper nomination.
Doomben Cup winner Scenic Shot was among 23 entries for the Group Two P J O'Shea Stakes.
The O'Shea nominations include Sir Slick who will have to step up to 2200 metres from the 1350 of the Doomben 10,000.
If he runs it will be the fifth consecutive Saturday the seven-year-old has raced in Queensland and he will rack up his 99th career start.
He ran three successive thirds in the Hollindale Stakes, Chairman's Handicap and Doomben Cup before running eighth in the 10,000.
