Trainer Rick Hore-Lacy has decided to immediately retire Toorak Toff after confirmation the outstanding colt was suffering from a wind infirmity.

Hore-Lacy, a part-owner of Toorak Toff, said he wasn't happy with the three-year-old's breathing when he came back to scale after running fifth to Eclair Mystic in Saturday's Red Tempo Hcp (1000m) at Flemington.

"I got Dr Alistair MacLean to come down here and scope him this morning and there was no doubt he's partly paralysed on the left-hand side of his throat, windpipe, larynx," Hore-Lacy said.

Hore-Lacy notified Racing Victoria stewards on Tuesday that veterinarian Dr MacLean had found the colt to be a grade three to grade four roarer.

"We've decided not to operate and decided that if the price is acceptable he'll go to stud," Hore-Lacy said.

"All the biggest studs are interested.

"He's a very desirable stud proposition because he's the last descendant of Star Kingdom breed and he'll cross very well with Danehill mares.

"The studs in Australia are full of Danehill mares.

"The Star Kingdom line and the Northern Dancer or Danehill line has been the most successful ever in the history of Australian racing.

"He's 16.1 hands and just a beautiful horse. He's a Group (Three) winner at two and a Group One winner at three and he won at 1100 metres up to 1400 metres and he was a certainty beaten in the Caulfield Guineas."

The Show A Heart colt ran fourth to Anacheeva in the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) after enduring a tough on-pace run out four wide without cover.

Toorak Toff won five of his 11 starts including the Group One Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill in August and more than $1 million in prizemoney.
