Following the surprise announcement that Toorak Toff will be retired to stud due to wind concerns, Eskander's Betstar has decided to refund all bets placed on the horse for the upcoming Magic Millions 3YO Guineas. Rick Hore-Lacy's star 3YO had been well supported to take out the 1400m race at the Gold Coast on Jan 15, and was second fav at $4.40 behind Squamosa $3.50. Betstar's Alan Eskander told PPD: 'Toorak Toff was a very impressive horse and I'm sure his owners will enjoy great success with him as a stallion, so I don't feel too sorry for them;however, the punters that jumped on early were pretty stiff...I'm not sure if the whole Christmas thing is getting to me, but it only feels right to refund the bets.' Squamosa is now $2.80 with Spirit of Boom ($8), Top Drop ($8) and Intencion ($9) the only other contenders at single figure odds.
