Top jockey Michael Rodd will continue his association with Charlie Boy in the Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast on January 11, reports Racing Network.

Rodd, currently enjoying a short break but returning to the saddle on New Years Day, will make the trip to Sydney to trial Charlie Boy at Randwick next Friday. Nash Rawiller had been in line to ride Charlie Boy in the $1 million Guineas but suspension has ruled him out of the meeting.

Rodd rode Charlie Boy in his three Melbourne runs last campaign, including a first-up victory in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes at Flemington.

Charlie Boy won a barrier trial at Rosehill Gardens on Tuesday morning and has come through the hit-out in perfect order according to trainer Gerald Ryan.

"He is bouncing around like he never trialled," Ryan said.

"He will have another trial over 1050m at Randwick and that should top him off nicely."

Charlie Boy is an $11 chance with Sportsbet.com.au in the Magic Millions Guineas with Sweet Idea favourite at $4.50.
