Trainer Shane Fliedner fears Tollesprit's Caulfield Guineas campaign may be over.

Fliedner said he would not know until the three-year-old's legs are scanned whether he will be able to train on to the Guineas on October 10.

Tollesprit was injured in Saturday's Guineas Prelude (1400m) and pulled up lame in the off fore leg and with lacerations to both hind legs.

"He was in the wars and he's not out of them yet," Fliedner said.

"He is getting some x-rays done tomorrow (Tuesday) to decide whether we go on with him or not.

"He has been sore but is not as sore at the moment although that doesn't mean there is nothing amiss."

Tollesprit was one of the leading chances for the Guineas but has drifted dramatically from $13 to $31 with TAB Sportsbet.

Fliedner was planning to run Tollesprit in the Listed Poseidon Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on October 3 and then back him up in the Guineas.

Only last week he declared Tollesprit was the horse to beat in the Group One feature.

Meanwhile eight Guineas prospects are among the 12 entries for Friday night's Group Two Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m).

Tony Vasil-trained Carrara is the most fancied of the group at $16 for the Guineas while Eclair Fastpass is next at $26.

Jockey Craig Newitt said he would stick with Stutt Stakes entry Eclair Fastpass through to the Guineas after he finished two lengths sixth to Demerit in the Guineas Prelude.

"I am not saying he can win a Guineas but I think he is on the verge of running a very big race," Newitt said.

He said the sit-and-sprint tempo of the Guineas Prelude prevented Eclair Fastpass from showing his good turn of foot but with a genuine pace he would be much better suited.

"I really like him and I am going to stick with him," Newitt said.

Other Guineas contenders in the Stutt are Extra Zero, Red Colossus, Star Scream, Umanugget, River's Lane and Point Pain.
