Tollesprit has earned the right to take on the country's best sprinters in next month's $1 million Newmarket Handicap.

Tollesprit made it two wins from his two starts this preparation when he wore down True Persuasion to take out the Schweppervescence Plate at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Trainer Shane Fliedner believes the three-year-old is talented enough for a crack at the 1200m Group One feature.

"The way they're dropping off (I'll run him in the Newmarket) and he'll get in with no weight," Fliedner said.

"The 1200 metres will suit him and I think he'd be a good chance."

Tollesprit won over the straight 1200m at Flemington on January 30.

Ridden by Craig Williams, Tollesprit ($2.3 fav) wore down True Persuasion ($3.30) to score by a short-half-head with leader Dissolved ($4) 1-1/4 lengths away third in the small field of five.

Tollesprit has won four of his 10 starts with two second placings including one behind subsequent Caulfield Guineas winner Starspangledbanner in the Group Three McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield last August.

"I just have to keep him sound. He's had immature bone problems and he's going to be a much nicer four-year-old," Fliedner said.

"He's been set for these three races all along, then he can have a good spell and come back for the spring.

"I've never had one that can run the sectionals he can."

A $27,000 yearling purchase, Tollesprit was bought on type by Fliedner who races him with a group of stable clients.

"I didn't get his X-rays done or anything. I can only afford to buy on type, I can't afford to buy on breeding," Fliedner said.

With Black Caviar out through injury, Tollesprit is at $15 with All Silent the heading TAB Sportsbet's market at $4.20 for the Newmarket on March 6.

All Silent is due to run in a 990 metre barrier trial at Cranbourne on Monday morning.

He hasn't raced since finishing out of the placings in the Hong Kong International Sprint in December.
