Gai Waterhouse might have lost one of her biggest spring carnival guns in Theseo but there is still plenty of firepower in Sydney's leading stable.

Waterhouse has confirmed middle distance champion Theseo will miss the spring due to a foot problem.

"Theseo has been spelled," Waterhouse said.

"His hoof hasn't completely healed, but it's a great improvement on what it was six weeks ago.

"He can't make it to the Cox Plate so I've turned him out.

"He had a little thing with his pedal bone and it was just a time thing. If we don't spell him he won't come right."

While Waterhouse was in Melbourne on Saturday to watch Swift Alliance win at Flemington, a couple of potential spring performers were given a workout between races at Randwick.

Belong To Many and Turf Express were impressive in separate exhibition gallops with Belong To Many, who is already a multiple stakes winner, easily accounting for Gold Water while Turf Express did better than his more seasoned galloping partner Bhutane Dane.

Stable representative Tania Rouse said Belong To Many, who has not raced since failing in the Dane Ripper Stakes at Eagle Farm in May, was still some time away from racing but had returned bigger and better this campaign.

"She has come back terrific, she's developed and she's stronger" Rouse said.

"She hasn't even had a trial yet and Gai is bringing her along quietly but we're very happy with her."

Turf Express, who showed promise as a spring two-year-old last year winning his first two starts at Rosehill and Randwick, will resume at Rosehill next Saturday.

"He's only just switched on the last few weeks and that gallop was his best this preparation," Rouse said.

"Gai has always had an opinion of him but he was just maturing during the autumn so she tipped him out and gave him an extended break.

"He'll run in a ratings race on Saturday and he's going really well."

Waterhouse was yet to determine plans for Gold Water but Rouse said Bhutane Dane was on track to resume in the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on September 19.
