Mark Kavanagh says his horses are sick of chasing So You Think home but he can't see it changing when Shocking clashes with the superstar in Saturday's Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington.

So You Think is unbeaten in four runs this spring including his Cox Plate victory last Saturday and is odds-on favourite to give master trainer Bart Cummings his 11th Mackinnon success.

On each occasion So You Think has won there has been a Kavanagh runner in his wake.

Cox Plate placegetter Whobegotyou has finished second and twice third to So You Think this spring while Shocking was fifth to him in the Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield.

"We're sick of looking at his rump and his tail," Kavanagh said.

"He made Whobegotyou look second rate.

"We're in it to win it but I can't see Shocking turning the tables on him (in the Mackinnon)."

So You Think has been heavily backed in the Mackinnon with Centrebet reporting that he has firmed from $1.70 to $1.60 after bets of $2000 at $1.70 and $5000 and $2500 at $1.60.

Spokesman Neil Evans said the dual Cox Plate winner was taking out 95 per cent of Centrebet's Mackinnon book.

However it was a different story in the Melbourne Cup with Shocking backed from $5.50 to $4.25 over the past 48 hours and taking over as favourite from So You Think who has eased from $3.50 to $5.

So You Think is the $1.55 favourite for the Mackinnon with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Shocking at $6.50 and Shoot Out at $10, with Caulfield Cup winner Descarado and Ginga Dude next best at $15.

The Mackinnon has been the race in which Cummings has given nine of his 12 Melbourne Cup winners their final hitouts three days before the big race.

Two of them - Let's Elope (1991) and Rogan Josh (1999) - completed the double in the same year.

This year So You Think (Steven Arnold) and Faint Perfume (James Winks) are his Mackinnon runners.

VRC Oaks winner Faint Perfume gets the chance to get back on track for the Cup after striking early interference and overracing with blinkers on for the first time when second last in the Caulfield Cup.

The stable has removed the blinkers from the Shamardal mare.

Cummings won his first Mackinnon with Trellios in 1959 while his latest victory in the race was with Sirmione in 2007.

Gai Waterhouse has given Caulfield Cup winner Descarado the chance to become her fifth Mackinnon winner and said she was very happy with the High Chaparral four-year-old.

Waterhouse has won the Mackinnon with All Our Mob (1996), Grand Armee (2004), Desert War (2006) and Theseo (2008).
