Mark Kavanagh says his star galloper Whobegotyou could not be in better shape heading to the Doomben 10,000.

The four-year-old winner of seven races and $2.2 million in stakes, spearheads a three-horse Kavanagh team heading to Brisbane on Monday night, which also includes quality sprinter Catapulted and promising three-year-old War Ends.

Whobegotyou impressed Kavanagh and jockey Michael Rodd when he won a Flemington jump out last Friday as part of his long lead up to Queensland carnival.

The dual Group One winning chestnut was given an extended break after finishing sixth to So You Think in the Cox Plate last October and Kavanagh has taken his time with him this campaign.

"I am really happy with him," Kavanagh said.

"He looks terrific, never looked better, and has everything going for him."

He said Saturday's Group One Doomben 10,000 and the Group One Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) on June 12 would Whobegotyou's only winter runs.

On Monday TAB Sportsbet quoted Whobegotyou $5.50 second favourite for the weight-for-age Doomben 10,000. Hot Danish is also $5.50 while Victorian mare Ortensia is $4 favourite.

Whobegotyou is attractively weighted with 57kg for the Stradbroke while stablemate Catapulted has 52kg.

Kavanagh said Catapulted would clash with Whobegotyou if he fires in the Group Two QTC Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on June 5.

"We have not got to the bottom of him (Catapulted) yet," Kavanagh said.

A winner of eight races from 13 starts, he has stepped up this campaign and was Group One placed when second to Velocitea in the Goodwood (1200m) after winning the Group Three McKay Stakes (1100m) in Adelaide.

He earned his Brisbane trip by winning the Straight Six (1200m) at Flemington on May 15.

"He is a nice horse with a good record and just keeps improving," Kavanagh said.

"We will make up our minds after the QTC Cup whether he runs in the Stradbroke or the W J Healey over 1300 metres two weeks later."

Kavanagh sees a lot of upside to War Ends, a lightly raced three-year-old who finished fourth to Dubleanny at Caulfield on Saturday.

"It was a handy run at Caulfield but the race wasn't run to suit him." Kavanagh said.

"They ran 0.7s outside the class record and he trapped out in front and driven mad.

"It wasn't his grand final as we want to run him the Queensland Guineas on June 12."

Kavanagh said the Redoute's Choice colt would have his Guineas lead-up in the Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes (1400m) on June 5.

His only win was over 1400 metres at Sandown two starts ago hen he beat third placed Tee Emar who trainer Peter Moody is aiming at the Queensland Derby.
