Chris Waller's bid for a third Doncaster Mile will take further shape in an environment far removed from the autumn carnival's Group One spotlight.

Waller confirmed the Chipping Norton Stakes winner Shoot Out would barrier trial at Warwick Farm on Tuesday morning. He will have eight rivals in an 800m trial.

"He won't be there to do much," Waller said.

Waller has finalised a Doncaster Mile squad of four horses - Shoot Out, Albert The Fat, Danleigh and Saturday's surprise George Ryder Stakes winner Metal Bender.

Missing from the formidable line-up will be Rangirangdoo, the 2010 Doncaster winner who will be saved for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at the end of the carnival.

Shoot Out, a $9 chance in latest Doncaster Mile betting, has been kept fresh since finishing third to Manighar in the Ranvet Stakes.

Waller said Metal Bender had come through his George Ryder Stakes win with a minimum of fuss.

"There's been no coughing and there's no heat in his tendons," the Rosehill trainer said.

Metal Bender firmed to $13 in Doncaster betting with Albert The Fat and Danleigh rated $51 chances after they finished unplaced in the Ryder.

Waller said Damien Oliver would be offered the Doncaster ride on Danleigh.

New Zealand trainer Roger James, meanwhile, can find no reason not to continue with Doncaster plans for George Ryder flop He's Remarkable.

He's Remarkable left James searching for answers when he could manage to beat only one runner home behind Metal Bender.

"It's the first time in my life I've been disappointed with him on a good track," James said.

He's Remarkable will be entered for Saturday's Doncaster Prelude at Randwick but James said the Newcastle Newmarket winner was a doubtful starter.
