It only took about a minute on Samantha Miss' back to allay any fears Glen Boss had about her handling the awkward Moonee Valley circuit.

The big-race specialist has ridden the Kris Lees-trained star a couple of times in the past week in her build-up for Saturday's Group One Cox Plate (2040m) and he believes she is spot-on for the race.

"The track is not a factor with her," Boss said.

"We gave her a look-and-see run on Tuesday, she was on her own, the outside fence was down and there is so much to look at the Valley but she didn't bat an eyelid and was so focused it was amazing.

"It put my mind at ease straight away and then I rode her again on Saturday morning and she travelled beautifully again.

"I said to Kris after that first gallop not to worry because she can handle this place."

Boss, who is going through a gruelling training regimen to make the filly's weight of 47.5kg for the Cox Plate, said Samantha Miss showed all the signs of a top class horse.

"All really good horses have that ability to put themselves into a spot or get themselves out of trouble and she's got that blinding acceleration that is needed for these races," Boss said.

"It's going to be a massive effort but I think she's good enough."

TAB Sportsbet has Samantha Miss as its $4 second favourite behind Kelt Capital Stakes winning New Zealander Princess Coup, a horse Boss knows very well.

"She can't be underestimated. I know how good she is first hand. I ran third on her in last year's Caulfield Cup and she's a better horse now," Boss said.

Samantha Miss, who was a $1.5 million yearling purchase, joined Angst (1993) last month as the only two horses to win all four legs of the Princess Series - The Silver Shadow, Furious, Tea Rose and Flight Stakes.

Boss will ride Samantha Miss in her Breakfast With The Stars gallop at Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning.
