Australian-bred Rocket Man is ready to take on the world's best sprinters again after a record-breaking return at Kranji.

Rocket Man smashed the Kranji 1200-metre course record in the Group Three Woodlands Handicap.

First-up since finishing second in the KrisFlyer International on May 16, Rocket Man ran 1:09.74 - 0.89 seconds inside the previous standard.

With Felix Coetzee in the saddle for the first time and conceding 9kg to his seven rivals, Rocket Man posted a 5-1/2 length winning margin over Bionic Boy and Ntini.

Coetzee, who rode Hong Kong wonder sprinter Silent Witness to 19 wins, is looking forward to partnering Rocket Man in the Sprinters Stakes in Japan on October 3.

"I have no doubt he will be very competitive there," Coetzee told the Singapore Turf Club website.

"It would not be fair to compare him with Silent Witness as they're both champions with their own different qualities."

Silent Witness, also an Australian-bred, won the 2005 Sprinters Stakes - a leg of the Global Sprint Challenge run at Nakayama.

Champion Australian sprinter Takeover Target won the race in 2006.

Rocket Man's trainer Patrick Shaw has the son of Viscount booked to fly to Japan on September 17.

"We've got him spot-on for Japan now," Shaw said.

"There's nothing more I can say about this horse, his runs speak for themselves."
