Gai Waterhouse has confirmed that Epsom winner Rock Kingdom will back up in Saturday's Group One Toorak Handicap at Caulfield despite his awkward draw.

The premier trainer said Rock Kingdom was sent to Melbourne on Wednesday along with stablemates Moti and Derby hopeful Viking Legend.

Rock Kingdom's win in last Saturday's Epsom Handicap (1600m) over the same trip as the Toorak gave Waterhouse a Group One-winning double at Randwick after More Joyous won the Flight Stakes.

"He'll be backing up in the Toorak," Waterhouse said.

"He's got the visitors' draw (15) but we can't do anything about that.

"He's done a treat since the Epsom and I wouldn't have sent him otherwise and he's won at a mile in a Group One handicap and the Toorak is perfect for him.

"The weights are compressed as they were in the Epsom but he's a horse on the rise."

Four-year-old Rock Kingdom produced a gutsy performance to defeat Rangirangdoo by a half-head in the Epsom.

Waterhouse said Viking Legend would run in the AAMI Vase (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 24.

Viking Legend was third in the Group One Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick last Saturday and won a 1200-metre race at Moonee Valley as a two-year-old in February.

"He's going nicely and will run in the Vase while Moti will go to the Myer Classic," Waterhouse said.

Viking Legend's grand final will be the Group One Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on October 31.

Stablemate Manhattan Rain will work at Caulfield on Thursday ahead of his assignment in Saturday's Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

"He's looks big and strong and has done very well down there," Waterhouse said.

"Blake (Shinn) has stayed down there and will partner him in the morning."

Manhattan Rain, who won the Group One Sires' Produce at Randwick in April, comes into Saturday's race after his third to Demerit in the Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on September 19.
