Road To Rock was a surprise winner of the George Main Stakes in the spring and the recipe is right for him to repeat the dose at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

The five-year-old will take his place in a star-studded Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) field in which 10 Group One winners go head-to-head.

They include the Gai Waterhouse-trained Theseo, AJC Australian Derby winner Roman Emperor, Doncaster Mile titleholder Vision And Power and imported gelding Speed Gifted.

Road To Rock's trainer Anthony Cummings will also start Prima Nova in the race and isn't surprised by the depth of quality in the Chipping Norton field.

"It's typical of this time of year and when you're going into Group Ones you've got to expect Group One horses to be there," he said.

"You can't win these things by default."

Road To Rock started at 40-1 when he claimed the George Main second-up last campaign following a midfield effort in the Tramway Handicap.

He will also go into the Chipping Norton at his second run back from a spell, this time off the back of a career-best first-up run in the Group Three Carlyon Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield when he was a close second to Rightfully Yours.

TAB Sportsbet has posted him at $12 with the Chris Waller-trained stablemates Rangirangdoo ($2.50) and Danleigh ($4.60) heading Chipping Norton betting.

Road To Rock has drawn awkwardly in barrier 11 but Cummings has no doubts the entire has come back better than ever and will give the race a shake.

"He's come back really well, I'd say this looks like being his best preparation," Cummings said.

"His first-up run was excellent, he's improved off that and goes into this race in good shape.

"The barrier is a little bit of an issue for him, there's no obvious speed in the race.

"It was a pretty well-run race for him first-up but it will be one of those quirky-run things on Saturday by the look of it.

"Nevertheless he's in good form and he'll run well."

In a surprise move, Cummings has booked apprentices to ride both his Chipping Norton runners despite the fact they can't claim.

Brenton Avdulla has the mount on Road To Rock while Daniel Ganderton will ride Prima Nova and Cummings has no doubt the youngsters will prove up to the task.

"He (Avdulla) knows the horse, he's ridden him quite a lot in trackwork and I figured that was a bonus some of the others (senior riders) couldn't provide," Cummings said.

"Daniel's in form and he'll ride Prima Nova very well. She's drawn well and going to run a good race too I'd say.

"It was hard to find one of the fully-fledged riders who was going to give us any better a ride than these guys."

One of four runners without a Group One win on their resume, Prima Nova is one of the outsiders of the field at $35.

But from a good draw in four, Cummings isn't discounting her chances.

"With the barrier and way this race going to be run, it gives her an opportunity," he said.

Cummings will be chasing his second Chipping Norton Stakes success having won with Casino Prince two years ago when the race was held at Randwick.
