Anthony Cummings will test Road To Rock's Group One potential in the St George Stakes following the four-year-old's return to winning form.
Road To Rock'S win over 1500 metres at Moonee Valley on Saturday came shortly before Cummings took out the last race at Randwick with promising stayer Wittgenstein to go with a win by two-year-old Pearl Of The Sea at Newcastle earlier in the day.
But it was Road To Rock who gave the trainer the most satisfaction and although he only won narrowly from Bolle, the way he did it was pleasing.
"He had to work hard and I was impressed with how he stuck it out to the line," Cummings said.
"He will be nominated for the St George and as long as he does well during the week, he will run.
"It will be a huge class rise but it will give us a clue whether he is up to the Australian Cup."
The Group Two St George Stakes (1800m) is a traditional lead-up to the Australian Cup.
St Road To Rock is currently at $26 for the Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 7 with Maldivian the $4 favourite ahead of Theseo at $6 and 2008 winner Sirmione, who is trained by Cummings' father Bart, at $8.
Cummings also has Group One ambitions for Zavite but first he will tackle the Launceston Cup (2400m) on February 25 in an attempt to go one better than his close second in the Hobart Cup.
Zavite was run down by the Darren Weir-trained Gotta Keep Cool at Hobart on February 9 to be beaten a head.
"Zavite is back at the Caulfield stable getting ready for the next instalment," Cummings said.
"It took him a couple of days to get over the Hobart Cup but he is back to his old self again.
"He will go back to Tasmania and Nash Rawiller will ride him again and hopefully he can go one better."
If he comes through his Launceston assignment as well as Cummings expects, Zavite will be on the road again to the Group Two Adelaide Cup (3200m) on March 9 before heading home for a crack at the Group One Sydney Cup (3200m) on Anzac Day.
Cummings is also excited about the prospects of Duporth who ran a solid first-up fourth in Saturday's Royal Sovereign Stakes won by Youthful Jack on a wet Randwick track.
The options for the three-year-old include a tilt at the Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on the same day as the Australian Cup.
