Doncaster Mile fancy Rangirangdoo was kept up to the mark for next Saturday's time-honoured Randwick feature with a barrier trial hitout at Warwick Farm on Friday.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding finished second in his 1200m heat, half a length behind imported galloper Doctor Fremantle.

Rangirangdoo has finished second in both the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) and Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at his past two starts and will drop back to 1600m next Saturday with Nash Rawiller to partner him for the first time in a race.

Doctor Fremantle, trained by Lee Freedman, is in Sydney for the Group One Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on April 24.

Victorian mare Ortensia was also impressive, winning an 800m heat by three lengths.

She will run in the Group One Galaxy (1100m) next Saturday as will De Lightning Ridge who finished an easy fourth in the same trial.

Ortensia settled at the tail of the field with Craig Williams in the saddle and finished strongly down the extreme outside to race away in a time of 48.1 seconds.

Group One winner Gold Trail took out heat four by 3-1/2 lengths in 47.2 seconds.

Magic Millions 3YO Trophy winner Graceful Anna was fifth in Gold Trail's heat with Peter Robl aboard.

Robl is making his comeback after breaking his collarbone in a fall at Canterbury at the end of January.
