Three weeks ago Joe Pride had a falling out with Power To Surprise in a stable mishap which resulted in a broken finger for the in-form trainer, but all is forgiven.

Power To Surprise runs in the Randwick Betting Auditorium Handicap (2500m) on the Kensington track on Friday and Pride rates him a big chance.

"I got my hand caught in the head collar and he flicked his head up in the air and that dislocated my finger," Pride said.

"A week or so later it was still hurting and so I got an X-ray which showed three fractures.

"There was a one-hour period where I wasn't happy with him but it was an accident, he's a lovely horse to work with and I've forgiven him."

The four-year-old, who is owned by Nick Moraitis, comes into the race after running second to Baha at Randwick over 2400 metres on January 24.

That followed a third to Dane Fortune three days earlier in a 2100-metre race at Warwick Farm.

"We ran him a week before that too and he ran fifth at Canterbury in a shorter race (1900m) so he's shown us plenty of toughness and staying potential this campaign," Pride said.

"He's back in grade and I think he's going to be very hard to stop in this race."

Power To Surprise will be ridden by regular jockey Jim Cassidy.

Pride also has stablemates Bejewelled and High Spire running in the Yarra Bay Handicap (1150m).

The Moraitis-owned Bejewelled will also be ridden by Cassidy and finished fourth to Sea Eye Pea over 1200m at Canterbury on January 15 after being blocked for a run.

"I don't like my horses running against each other but it's just the way it's worked out on this occasion," Pride said.

"Bejewelled was very unlucky last time and is going well while High Spire is a horse I have forgiven for her last run."

High Spire failed to beat a runner home at Randwick on Australia Day after winning at Gosford on January 8.

"She was in the last race at Randwick last start and the rain hit us and she just hates the rain, but she's done well since and will run a nice race," Pride said.

Pride has been on the right end of photo-finishes on the last two Saturdays with narrow victories to Anatomica at Randwick and Schibello at Rosehill.
