Vision And Power has already reinvented himself once and trainer Joe Pride is hoping he can do it again in Brisbane this winter.

The gelding was the surprise packet of last year's Sydney autumn carnival when he rose from the ranks of open class performer to a dual Group One winner of the George Ryder Stakes and Doncaster Mile.

Those races were over 1500 and 1600 metres respectively but this time around, Pride plans to test Vision And Power's credentials as a stayer.

"I've got three runs planned for him in Queensland - the Doomben Cup, the O'Shea and the Brisbane Cup," Pride said.

"I'd like to try him over 2400 metres."

Vision And Power has started over 2400 metres just three times in his 57-start career finishing unplaced in the 2006 Queensland Derby and fourth at his other two attempts.

His last start at the distance was almost two years ago but Pride has been taken with the way the seven-year-old has hit the line at his past two starts in the Group One Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Lord Mayor's Cup, both over 2000m.

"He's starting to hit the line at his last couple," Pride said.

"If it's wet in Brisbane it will suit him but it's also a big drop in grade on what he's been racing.

"He spent the spring in Melbourne and the autumn in Sydney and they're stronger than the winter carnival in Brisbane."

Vision And Power will kick off his Queensland campaign in the Group One Doomben Cup (2020m) on Saturday.

The Group Two P J O'Shea Stakes (2200m) - this year known as the Eagle Farm Cup - is on June 5 with the Group Two Brisbane Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm a week later.

Pride is yet to finalise his winter carnival team but it will include evergreen galloper Hadaaf who will also line up at Doomben in the Group Three Lord Mayor's Cup (1615m).

Bejewelled could back up from her 3-3/4 lengths ninth behind Ahdashim in the 1200m open handicap at Randwick on Saturday in the Group Three Moreton Stakes (1350m).

The mare was stakes placed in the Wiggle Quality during the autumn in Sydney and Pride is hoping she can capture some more black type before she takes up brood mare duties next season.

"I very intentionally gave her three weeks off so I could bring her back at this time of year when I thought it would be wet," Pride said.

"This is her last preparation, she's going to stud so we want to make every post a winner for her this time in.

"She is Listed placed so we will try to win some black type with her."

The speedy Black Prince is also under consideration for Brisbane but Pride says he needs a firm track and will only head north if conditions suit.
