Talented mare Bejewelled's recent third behind Love Conquers All and Hay List has convinced trainer Joe Pride she can snare an overdue black-type win in Saturday's Civic Stakes.

Bejewelled finished four lengths behind runner-up Hay List in the June Stakes (1100m) on June 12 before her sixth of eight in last week's Takeover Target Stakes at Gosford.

Hay List missed the Gosford race due to the wet track and was unextended in the final stages of Saturday's Healy Stakes at Eagle Farm, beating Pinwheel by a comfortable five lengths.

"The form out of the June Stakes looks pretty good," Pride said.

"And you have to forgive her last run. Something else wanted to take her on in front and both horses finished down the track.

"She goes back to 1400 metres which she likes.

"She's never won at Rosehill but then she's only had a couple of tries there so I wouldn't hold that against her.

"Tommy Berry sticks with her, he knows her well."

There were 15 entries for the Listed Civic Stakes including Bejewelled's stablemate Black Prince but Pride said he was more likely to run over 1100 metres in a Benchmark 90 race.

Although he restricts his team to around 35-40 horses in work at one time, Pride is still running fourth on the Sydney trainers' premiership behind Peter Snowden, Chris Waller and Gai Waterhouse.

"It's been a good season," he said.

"I ran fourth last year and hopefully can do the same this time.

"I can't go any higher than that with the numbers of horses I've got so it's satisfying."

Bejewelled is raced by Nick Moraitis who has several horses with Pride including dual Group One winner Vision And Power who failed to replicate his 2009 autumn this year.

"He is having a rest but he will be back," Pride said.

Among the entries for the Civic Stakes, won in 2009 by the Pride-trained Hadaaf, is Prince Braeman, winner of the Listed Chief De Beers at Doomben two starts ago before finishing out of the placings in the Eye Liner at Ipswich.

Peter Snowden has the two highest rated entries in Posadas (102) and Falaise (100).

Falaise has done his racing in Melbourne for almost two years with his most recent win over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley in March.

Posadas ran ninth in the June Stakes while Snowden's other entry Gergis hasn't raced since February.
