A significant drop in class and a wet track have Prerequisite in the frame for a return to the winner's enclosure at Canterbury on Wednesday.
Track manager Lindsay Murphy said the inner-city circuit had been hit with 60 millimetres of rain since Saturday and rated it a heavy (8) on Tuesday.
The David Payne-trained filly Prerequisite comes into the IEU Good Faith Bargaining Cup (1200m) after running in the first two legs of the rich Princess Series.
Prerequisite was posted wide throughout her last start in the Group Two Furious Stakes (1400m) in which she finished last after being third into the straight in the race won by Melito.
Prior to that Prerequisite came from near last in the Group Three Silver Shadow Stakes, finishing strongly to be three lengths sixth to Deer Valley.
"She went badly last time and was wide all the way. She had a minor setback after the race but she's going well now," Payne said.
"She's fit enough and well enough to run a nice race on Wednesday.
"Even though she ran a nice race in the Silver Shadow I don't think she's up to those top fillies.
"We'll just concentrate on getting her through her grades and this looks a nice race for her."
Payne's confidence was further bolstered by the rain-affected going at Canterbury.
The Charge Forward filly's only career win in her five starts came on a heavy (8) track at Warwick Farm in May.
Racing over 1200 metres, Prerequisite sat second for most of the trip before letting down strongly and defeating Devoirs by 1-3/4 lengths.
"She loves the wet," Payne said.
Prerequisite jumps from barrier three and will be ridden by Glyn Schofield.
There was a mix-up involving jockey Jay Ford who will ride the Anthony Cummings-trained Rocking Rhonda in Prerequisite's race.
Racing NSW released a statement on Tuesday saying Ford was listed as the rider for both Calibre Cut and Rocking Rhonda.
Ford's manager accepted the ride on Calibre Cut close to the rider deadline after earlier booking the jockey for Rocking Rhonda with the Trainer Service Centre.
Apprentice Brenton Avdulla was then on Friday booked as the rider of the Gerald Ryan-trained Calibre Cut.
The change is contrary to Racing NSW policy that a senior rider may only be replaced by a senior or non-claiming apprentice.
Avdulla had been publicly released as the rider for three days so stewards allowed the riding change to stand.
Ryan will be interviewed by stewards and the Trainer Service Centre has again been advised it must not take late rider replacements which do not conform to Racing NSW policy.
