Mossurmi continued his amazing form with a thrilling last-gasp victory at Warwick Farm on Tuesday to give him his second win in just two days.

Trainer Marc Conners was delighted after the four-year-old triumphed but admitted he thought the gelding had just missed out in the Marwin Gold Handicap (1600m).

Mossurmi, who was ridden by Craig Agnew, got rattling late on the heavy track to defeat Future's Dream by a nose, giving the Mossman chestnut his third win this month.

On Sunday, Mossurmi defeated Gunna Happen by a long neck to win the Nowra Cup (1600m).

"I thought he got beaten for sure, even when I saw the replay I thought he got beaten," Conners said of Tuesday's tight finish.

"He's racing super and has really put it together this time in."

Meanwhile, a significant step back in distance did the trick for two-year-old Prerequisite who broke her maiden status with a comfortable victory in the opening race of the day, the Rosebrook Handicap (1200m).

The David Payne-trained Charge Forward youngster was having her third start, coming off placings in 1400-metre and 1550-metre races.

She came into the race after running third to stablemate Chitu Ma over 1550 metres at Canterbury on May 12.

Ridden by Chris Munce, Prerequisite revelled on the heavy eight surface, defeating Devoirs and Henriette who both rocketed home from near the tail of the field.

Munce was pleased with the performance and full of praise for Payne.

"You always know that when you ride a David Payne two-year-old they are going to be super fit and she certainly was," Munce said.

Payne celebrated a winning double when Big Red Cat claimed the next race, the Randwick Betting Auditorium Handicap (1600m).

Ridden by Nash Rawiller, Big Red Cat hit the lead near the 400 metres and showed plenty of fight in the closing stages to defeat The Embassy by three-quarters of a length with Privileged Class the same margin away third.

"It's taken a little while for the penny to drop with him, he used to overrace but now he's much more relaxed and we're seeing the benefits of that," Payne said.

"We've had runners in two races and we've had two wins, that's not a bad day's work."
