Newly-crowned premier jockey Nash Rawiller will miss the first meetings of the Sydney season due to illness with Josh Parr the first beneficiary of his absence.

Parr will replace Rawiller on expensive colt Mutamayez at Randwick on Wednesday when the regally-bred son of Encosta De Lago makes his debut.

He runs in the Tommy Berry Handicap (1150m) with races at the meeting named after Sydney's premiership winners.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse, Mutamayez is out of Show Dancing making him a half-brother to Group One winner Al Maher and a member of the immediate family of champion sire Redoute's Choice.

His Excellency Nasser Lootah of Dubai paid a sale high $1.8 million for the colt at the 2009 Easter Sale.

Waterhouse stable representative Mark Webbey said Mutamayez had done well since his barrier trial win on July 19 and handled the wet conditions he will encounter again.

"He has had two trials on a slow track and gone pretty well in the wet," Webbey said.

"Josh Parr will replace Nash who is resting in bed.

"Glyn Schofield will be riding Cannonball and Brightexpectations on Saturday."

Rawiller forfeited his mounts midway through Saturday's Rosehill meeting because he was unwell and has since been diagnosed with a lung infection.

He has given himself a 50-50 chance of being back for the Run To The Rose meeting on Saturday week.

Former United States galloper Cannonball is entered for Saturday's Missile Stakes at Randwick while Brightexpectations will run in the San Domenico Stakes.

Parr was apprenticed to Waterhouse before moving to Peter Snowden at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Australia.

He is now the number two jockey at Crown Lodge but his workload has increased with Kerrin McEvoy sidelined with a back injury.

Parr will ride the Waterhouse-trained Kontiki Park in Wednesday's Centennial Park Handicap (1550m).

Hugh Bowman, premier jockey in 2008-09, has been named as the rider for the David Payne-trained Smash Hit in the Nash Rawiller Handicap (1150m).

Peter Robl will ride Music Maestro for trainer Grahame Begg in the New Season Handicap (1400m) while Schofield will be Rawiller's replacement on the Kevin Moses-trained Diamondsahoy in the Peter Snowden Handicap (1000m).
