Voice Commander's Festival Stakes win generated a lot of publicity for Nick Olive and he believes another victory in the Villiers Stakes would not only be a major coup for his stable but also for Canberra trainers.

The four-year-old comes into the 1600-metre, Group Two feature at Randwick on Saturday after providing Olive with his first black-type winner when he edged out Synonym in the Festival Stakes (1500m) on December 6.

Olive, who has been training for three years, worked as foreman to premier Canberra trainer Barbara Joseph for almost a decade and has big plans for his stable.

"It's hard work trying to compete with the big stables in Sydney but the Festival Stakes win has certainly sparked some interest from prospective owners, not an avalanche but plenty of interest," Olive said.

"My aim is to get to that level that Kris Lees and Paul Perry have in Newcastle, where you can attract some big clients away from Sydney and provide a more relaxed environment for the horses for less cost.

"A win on Saturday would certainly open a few more people's eyes up and prove that we can train horses here in Canberra, it would be good for all trainers here."

The Commands gelding, who has six wins from 13 starts, has pleased Olive since his last start.

"He had a pretty easy week last week and I think he's really come on since the run and will be even stronger for the weekend," Olive said.

"I'm definitely confident that he will run well but whether he wins depends on a bit of luck."

Voice Commander is going for three consecutive victories after also winning the Goulburn Cup (1600m).

"He's really making a name for himself as a fighter, he was beaten at Goulburn but fought back to win by a nose and the other day won by a head and he'll be giving it everything again on Saturday."

Group One winner Sniper's Bullet has the topweight of 58.5kg for the summer feature.

Queenslander Rags To Riches from the Liam Birchley yard, has been given 55kg, while Something Anything, a winner at Rosehill on Saturday, has 54.5kg.

Rags To Riches won the Listed Recognition Stakes at Eagle Farm two starts back.

The Paul Cave-trained German Chocolate has 54kg as he looks for his first win since the Group Two Premiere Stakes (1200m) in August last year.

Voice Commander will carry 53kg and be ridden by his regular jockey Tye Angland.
