Jockeys Craig Newitt and Glen Colless have picked up the rides on local hopes Ghetto Blaster and Paprika in the Group One Doomben 10,000 on Saturday.

In a dramatic day which saw the well-fancied Whobegotyou stranded in Melbourne and the Gai Waterhouse-trained Swift Alliance ruled out of the 1350-metre feature, jockey Nash Rawiller has lodged an appeal against a five-meeting suspension.

Swift Alliance was ruled out of the Doomben 10,000 with a recurrence of a foot injury which has delayed the entire's winter campaign.

Rawiller, who was to ride Swift Alliance if the four-year-old made the final 16-horse field to be declared on Wednesday, will have his appeal heard on Friday.

Rawiller was found guilty of striking his mount Gold Water 11 times with the whip in a forehand manner over the final 100 metres of the Group One Doomben Cup last Saturday.

It was his 11th breach of the controversial whip regulations.

Whobegotyou was bumped from his scheduled flight on Monday night but trainer Mark Kavanagh was not overly concerned.

"It's not the end of the world. There's not much we can do about it," Kavanagh said.

"He wouldn't have any chance at all if we floated him.

"I'm not too worried, his main work's done.

"We just have to keep him ticking over and whether he does that work at Eagle Farm or Flemington it doesn't matter."

Kavanagh was hopeful a flight would be available on Tuesday night for Whobegotyou who will be accompanied to Brisbane by stablemates Catapulted and War Ends.

If no flight is available Whobegotyou will work at Flemington on Wednesday to prepare for the Doomben 10,000.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast trainer Gillian Heinrich had one eye to the future when she booked Newitt for Ghetto Blaster in the 10,000.

Ghetto Blaster was ridden by Larry Cassidy last start when 10th to Albert The Fat in the Group One BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on May 15.

"I wanted one jockey for the 10,000 and Stradbroke so I got Craig Newitt who is a strong rider," Heinrich said.

"I'm looking forward to him running in the Stradbroke as he's only got 51.5 kilos.

"I think he'll go a lot better in the 10,000 than he did last start but he's not really suited to weight-for-age."

Newitt will be chasing his second Stradbroke Handicap victory after winning the feature on another local, La Montagna, in 2006.

Paprika was ridden by Stathi Katsidis when she burst into Doomben 10,000 calculations with a brilliant victory at Doomben last Saturday.

Katsidis, who starts a careless riding suspension after the Doomben 10,000 meeting, rides last year's Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready in the weight-for-age sprint.
