Darley rider Kerrin McEvoy is of the opinion Neroli is going just as well heading into Saturday's Queen Of The Turf Stakes as she was when she won the Group One event 12 months ago.

But whether that is good enough to topple the outstanding Typhoon Tracy, who has had her measure in three previous encounters, is yet to be seen.

Neroli won the 1500m fillies and mares feature on a heavy track last year with Darren Beadman in the saddle as McEvoy rode stablemate Forensics.

Gun mare Hot Danish was the star attraction last year but Neroli caused a minor upset, running down Sydney's glamour mare to win by three-quarters of a length.

On Saturday she faces an even stiffer task to go back-to-back with Typhoon Tracy and More Joyous dominating public interest in the race.

Typhoon Tracy defeated Neroli in last year's Coolmore Classic and twice in Melbourne during the spring carnival, in the Tristarc Stakes and Myer Classic.

"I'd say she's going just as well as she was last year," McEvoy said of Neroli who finished fourth in the Coolmore Classic last start over the same 1500m journey.

"It was a good run from her in the Coolmore.

"She got back from a wide barrier and hit the line strongly. She's been working well since, too.

"It's a really competitive race but she's been running well."

Darley will also be represented in the Queen Of The Turf by Bernicia who has been kept fresh by trainer Guy Walter.

Her only start this preparation was a close fourth on her home track of Warwick Farm in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup (1300m) on March 6 when she reeled off some impressive late sectionals.

"I thought her run in the Liverpool City Cup was outstanding," Walter said.

"For quite a while we've had a race like the (Group Two) Emancipation Stakes in line for her and she's a mare who races better when her runs are spaced out.

"It's a very strong field on Saturday but she's drawn well (in barrier three) and is very fit.

"She's won a couple of stakes races in the past and she'll give a good account of herself."
