Classy filly Military Rose is set to bounce back to winning form in the Group Three Champagne Stakes after galloping strongly during her first visit to Moonee Valley.

Gold Coast trainer Gillian Heinrich was pleased with how well Military Rose negotiated the tight turning track on Monday morning, working over 1000 metres in 1.09.72 and dashing home her last 400 m in 25.45s.

"Everything went well," Heinrich said.

"She went 1000 metres at three-quarter pace and cleaned her wind out down the straight."

"I had already given her a good gallop last week so she only went over to have the look at the track and see if she can get around it.

Track rider Dan Wheeler gave a positive report to Heinrich.

"Dan said she handled the track absolutely beautifully," Heinrich said.

Military Rose won her first five starts, including the Gold Coast Magic Millions, but has been beaten at her past two runs in the Golden Slipper Stakes and the Group Two Danehill Stakes (1200m) when sixth first-up at Flemington on September 4.

Heinrich said Military Rose wasn't suited on the rain-affected ground at Flemington and she expected her to fire at the Valley.

"I'm looking forward to Friday night," Heinrich said.

"She doesn't appreciate heavy tracks at all and all things considered I was happy with her run at Flemington.

"She was only beaten three lengths and I'm happy that she has that run under her belt now."

The Champagne Stakes (1200m) has attracted 18 entries and Military Rose will use that race as a prelude to the Group Three Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) on October 9 and the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on October 30.
