Paul Messara may be overseas putting the final touches on Alverta's bid to win at Group One level in France but he'll still have plenty of interest at home with this week's opening of his new satellite stable in Queensland.

Messara, who has stables at Scone and Randwick, has 14 boxes on course at Caloundra and will saddle his first metropolitan runner from his new Queensland base when Aiglon starts in the Superior Broadband Services Plate (2118m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Messara's Sunshine Coast stable is being run by former Gold Coast trainer Eden Petrie who prepared his first Group One winner when Albert The Fat claimed the BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben in May.

The new Caloundra stable was successful with its first runner when Zabelka won at the Gold Coast on Thursday.

Messara will return to Australia next week after saddling up Alverta for the Group One Prix De Gheest (1300m) at Deauville on Sunday.

Alverta finished third in the Group One July Cup (1207m) at Newmarket last month after failing in her first start in England when 14th in the Group One Golden Jubilee (1207m) at Royal Ascot in June.

Petrie is excited about his new challenge and is confident Aiglon can make a successful step up to Saturday class after winning his past two starts at Caloundra.

"He's won his last two races at Caloundra and they were both very impressive," Petrie said.

"I'm very happy after making the move to join Paul. He's got a good system in place and it's a big load off my mind financially.

"It's very tough being a trainer unless you're a big player and it's only going to get tougher in the next five to 10 years.

"I saw the move to Paul as a golden opportunity to stay in the game."

Aiglon did his early racing in Melbourne, winning twice on the provincial circuit at Benalla and Pakenham before being sent north.

Shane Scriven rode the five-year-old at his first Queensland start when sixth in a class three at Doomben in June before Stathi Katsidis and Damian Browne scored on the son of Grass Wonder at his past two starts on his home track.

Chris Munce will be the gelding's fourth rider in as many Queensland starts.

Petrie's star Group One-winning sprinter Albert The Fat has been transferred to Messara ahead of his upcoming spring campaign in Melbourne.

Messara, the son of Arrowfield Stud boss John Messara, claimed his first Group One with Alverta in the Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill in March.

Alverta was also Messara's first winner as a trainer and his first stakeswinner.
