Speed machine Lucky Secret atoned for his last-start defeat and further enhanced his Moonee Valley record with a decisive victory in the Group Two Schweppes Stakes.

But trainer Tony Vasil would not be drawn into ambitious Group One plans for the five-year-old and all but ruled out a start in the Hong Kong Sprint in December.

"We will let the dust settle on today but I don't know about running him at Flemington and Hong Kong is unlikely," Vasil said on Saturday.

"Today was his grand final and we will savour this win.

"He has already bled once so we've only got one more chance with him so we don't want to pressure him.

"A trip to Hong Kong might do that.

"If he hadn't bled it would be enticing."

Horses who bleed are banned for three months the first time and for life if it happens again.

Lucky Secret was run down by Wilander in the Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield and his jockey Danny Brereton came in for some criticism but Vasil was forgiving and the hoop produced a flawless ride on the $4.80 second favourite on Saturday.

Chairmanoftheboard ($21) led until the approach to the home turn where Brereton railed up on Lucky Secret who strode to the front and won by a comfortable 2-1/4 lengths from Bel Mer ($7) with Stradbroke Handicap winner Mr Baritone ($12) a short half-head back third.

Favourite Typhoon Zed ($4.40), winner of the Manikato Stakes at the track last month, weakened from third on the turn to run ninth with jockey Corey Brown saying he was looking for a holiday.

Lucky Secret's Moonee Valley record now stands at six starts for five wins and his overall tally at nine from 12, three over the 1200 metres of Saturday's race.

Bel Mer's trainer Mick Price said he would consider a start in the Patinack Classic (1200m) on November 8 but was wary of running into Apache Cat and Takeover Target and would look at all options.

"She is a Listed winner but still can't crack it for a Group win," he said.

"She's Group-placed and we just have to find a race for her."
