Trainer Kris Lees is keeping a lid on his expectations for expensive filly Samantha's Charm ahead of her debut at Warwick Farm on Monday.

A $1.8 million yearling, Samantha's Charm was the equal top priced filly at the 2008 Easter sale along with an unraced half sister to Makybe Diva.

Her purchase price was $300,000 more than her illustrious stablemate Samantha Miss who won her debut in March last year and went on to win the Group One Champagne Stakes as a two-year-old.

"She still does a bit wrong," Lees said.

"I think she will be better for the experience of racing but I'm not getting carried away."

Like Samantha Miss, Samantha's Charm is owned by Ron Croghan and is by the country's most expensive stallion Redoute's Choice out of Coliape, a half sister to dual Group One winner Lotteria.

The Sydney autumn carnival has lost one of its start attractions with VRC Oaks winner Samantha Miss currently sidelined with a tendon injury.

"She will have stem cell therapy in about three weeks," Lees said.

"All tendon injuries are bad. Hers is on the less severe side but there's a long road ahead."

Samantha's Charm runs in the Ashcroft Handicap (1100m) with Blake Shinn to take the mount.

At her only public appearance in a barrier trial at Wyong on February 24, Samantha's Charm won her 800m heat by half a length from Ancient Land.

Shinn has also been booked to ride Think Money in the Rosedale Park Handicap (1600m).

The Bart Cummings-trained filly was third emergency and missed a start in Saturday's Surround Stakes won by Portillo.

Yau Chin was second emergency and with the scratchings of Typhoon Tracy and first reserve Sara's Choice would have gained a start.

But trainer Grahame Begg found out about the scratchings too late and had already galloped the filly who will now go to Warwick Farm and the Collimore Park Handicap (1400m).
