Trainer Mark Kavanagh is coy about the chances of impeccably-bred filly Quench The Thirst amid a growing number of tips for other Blue Diamond contenders.

The daughter of Encosta De Lago will make her debut in Wednesday's Blue Diamond Preview for fillies at Caulfield while stablemate Fastnet Prince will also step out for the first time in the colts and geldings Preview.

Kavanagh said that while he was hopeful about both horses he couldn't be confident.

"I reckon I've had 30 tips for the Blue Diamond in the last couple of weeks," Kavanagh, who won the feature with Undoubtedly in 2005, said.

"This could be a vintage year as everybody seems to have a very smart horse."

Quench The Thirst has outstanding bloodlines being from stakes-placed Danehill mare Monsoon Wedding who is a sister to 1999 Blue Diamond winner Redoute's Choice and Spring Champion Stakes winner Platinum Scissors and half-sister to 2009 Cox Plate runner-up Manhattan Rain.

Kavanagh said Quench The Thirst was a nice type but whatever she does at this stage of her career would be a bonus.

"I am going to keep quiet and wait and see," Kavanagh said.

"We will give her a chance to see if she is worth continuing towards the Blue Diamond."

TAB Sportsbet has posted Quench The Thirst as $5 second favourite behind the Peter Moody-trained One Last Dance ($2.50), a debut winner by more than four lengths at her only start at Moonee Valley on December 17.

Moody also prepares the colts and geldings Preview favourite Golden Archer ($2.25) who is unbeaten in two starts at Flemington and Caulfield.

Moody said both horses had been given 10 days off since their last runs and another 10 days in new surroundings with trainer David Brideoake at Mornington as part of their preparations.

He said Golden Archer would run well but says he won't peak until the Blue Diamond on February 26.

"He is carrying a little more condition than last start (on Boxing Day) but he is quite well," Moody said.

He said One Last Dance was a progressive filly.

"She is coming into this race in better condition than last start," Moody said.

Kavanagh said Fastnet Prince, who is from the same family as four-time Group One winner All Our Mob, was showing promise but would be better with time.

"He is a big, raw sort of horse and is going to improve," Kavanagh said.

Fastnet Prince is $17 for Wednesday's assignment.

Patinack Farm sponsors the Blue Diamond series but will be without a runner in the colts and geldings Preview after trainer John Thompson declared the much-touted Boys On Tour, quoted at $6 on Tuesday, would be scratched after drawing the outside barrier.

"It is quite a strong race and we didn't want him to have a gut-buster for his first run," Thompson, who will now run the gelding at Sandown on Saturday, said.

Unbeaten stablemate Motifs, who has won both her starts in Adelaide, is at $21 against the fillies.
