Trainer Gillian Heinrich has placed a higher priority on winning a Magic Millions Classic on her home track than claiming her first Group One ahead of Military Rose's assignment in Saturday's $2 million feature at the Gold Coast.

Heinrich is yet to win either with the pinnacle of her 20-year training career coming from two Group Two victories from former stable flyer All Bar One and Dance The Waves.

Heinrich is excited about Military Rose's prospects with the General Nediym filly jumping from barrier four.

General Nediym won the Magic Millions Classic in 1997 and became the only race winner to sire a winner when Regimental Gal claimed the feature in 2003.

"I haven't had many runners in this race but I'm really excited about our prospects this year," Heinrich said.

"My biggest wins have been with All Bar One and Dance The Waves in Group Two races but this is the race I've always wanted to win.

"It's my home state and means more to me than anything else.

"It's the biggest two-year-old race in Queensland and one of the biggest in Australia. It's the Gold Coast's biggest race and I'm a Gold Coast girl."

Heinrich has Military Rose in perfect fettle for the Magic Millions.

"Her work on Tuesday was enormous and I couldn't be happier with her," she said.

Miliary Rose is striving to become only the second Gold Coast youngster to win the Magic Millions Classic following Snippets' victory in the race's inaugural year, 1987.

Heinrich's best effort in the Magic Millions Classic was with Ivory's Irish who finished fourth to Brave Warrior in 1994.

"Ivory's Irish had no luck and wasn't beaten far that year," Heinrich said.

"He went to Bart Cummings soon after and eventually won the AJC Derby the following year."

The Gold Coast track is rated a dead four but Heinrich is confident Military Rose can handle any surface.

Military Rose has been well supported since Tuesday's barrier draw and is $6 third favourite in fixed-odds betting with TAB Sportsbet with the John O'Shea-trained Ambers Waltz favourite at $4.30.

Heinrich has great respect for Ambers Waltz despite the filly's horror draw in 17.

"Ambers Waltz looks to be pretty smart but I wouldn't swap mine for anything else," she said.

Ambers Waltz, who was an unlucky runner-up to Triple Crown over 1200 metres at Randwick on Boxing Day, only arrived from Sydney on Wednesday night but has settled in well.

O'Shea has taken comfort from the fact the daughter of Danehill Dancer has come through her trip and last start in good order.

"I thought she had her chance to win last time but she hung out under pressure," O'Shea said.

"More importantly she has come through the race well and has gone forward and made nice improvement."

O'Shea experimented by working Amber Waltz twice with winkers since her latest outing and will use the head gear on the filly in the Magic Millions Classic.
