Magic Millions Classic winner Military Rose is back in work ahead of her Golden Slipper assignment in April but it will be her stablemate Sweepstaking who will fly the stable flag first in Sydney during the autumn.

Sweepstaking, a three-year-old daughter of Not A Single Doubt, booked an interstate campaign when she registered her fourth win from seven starts with a commanding victory over 1200 metres at Eagle Farm last month.

Trainer Gillian Heinrich sent the filly to Sydney by float last week and was delighted with her performance when she won a 900-metre barrier trial at Rosehill on Tuesday which confirmed she was on track for the Group Two Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday week.

A beefed-up Military Rose will soon join Sweepstaking in Sydney in mid-March for her attempt to become the first filly to win the Magic Millions Classic-Golden Slipper double.

Dance Hero in 2004 and Phelan Ready in 2009 are the only two youngsters to have won the double but both were males.

Stathi Katsidis, who won the Magic Millions Classic on Military Rose and the Karaka Million on Sister Havana at Ellerslie on Sunday, will partner Sweepstaking in the Light Fingers.

"She was impressive in her barrier trial win and Hugh Bowman came back with a glowing report," Heinrich said.

"She sat three wide without cover and won well."

Sweepstaking is in Sydney for the second time after Heinrich sent her down for last year's $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill but she failed to measure up in the Group One feature, finishing a disappointing 13th to Denman.

"She's settled in well in Sydney and she cleaned up her feed tin after yesterday's trial," Heinrich said.

Heinrich will be guided by Sweepstaking's performance in the Light Fingers before deciding how far the filly progresses during the autumn.

The Gold Coast trainer has pencilled in the Group Two Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on February 27 as the race which will determine if Sweepstaking tackles the Group One Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 13.

"Stathi has said a number of times he'd like to see her step up further in distance but she's got to prove she's good enough," Heinrich said.

Heinrich has been forced to change plans about starting Military Rose first-up in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on April 3.

"She's only a tiny filly and weighed 455 kilos for the Magic Millions but she's put on 12 kilos during her break which is enormous for a filly," she said.

"She's one tough filly but she's put on so much weight she'll need to have a run now, probably two weeks before the Slipper."

Military Rose will resume in the Group Two Reisling Slipper Trial (1200m) at Rosehill on March 20.
