Trainer Robbie Heathcote wasn't suffering from ill health but was still feeling sick ahead of On The Fridge's bid for black-type glory in the Listed Carlton Draught Classic at Eagle Farm.

Heathcote wants a heavy track for On The Fridge in the 1200-metre feature and was annoyed he had paid too much attention to weather forecasters who predicted more rain ahead of Saturday's meeting.

To compound Heathcote's problems, he deliberately decided against accepting with stablemate Majorca in the Listed Recognition Stakes (1600m) in the belief a heavy track was assured.

"I'm feeling a little sick at the moment," Heathcote said.

"When I heard the weather bureau predicted a lot of rain coming I deliberately decided not to accept with Majorca and wanted to leave him in his box if the track was going to be heavy.

"But the sun has been shining all day and there's talk the track might come come back to dead if there's no more rain."

Weather forecasters were still predicting showers for Friday and Saturday but Heathcote now feels he should have accepted with Majorca and made a late decision whether to run the six-year-old in the Recognition Stakes.

Eagle Farm improved to a slow seven on Friday which gave Heathcote some relief with On The Fridge.

"The track at the moment is definitely going to be wet so we're halfway there with On The Fridge," Heathcote said.

"She's a good mare but the biggest advantage she has over the others is that she will handle the current conditions, but I'd like it wetter.

"It would be nice if she can get some black type to her name."

On The Fridge has won five of her nine starts but Heathcote believes her record should be better.

The daughter of Easy Rocking scored on a heavy track at Eagle Farm three starts back before going down by less than two lengths when eighth to Desdemona in a 1200-metre Class Six at Doomben on October 25.

At her most recent outing, On The Fridge was narrowly beaten by Borsha's Mark in a similar race at Eagle Farm on November 8.

"She was very unlucky in her last two starts and should have won both," Heathcote said.

"She was held up for a run on the fence behind Desdemona and then got shuffled right back through the field the day Borsha's Mark had an easy lead and she only just failed to haul him in."

Heathcote hopes On The Fridge can measure up as a winter carnival hope next year.

"Horses like her all show promise as they are going through the grades but they still have to prove themselves in top company yet," he said.

"I think she's capable of winning a nice race next winter and the Glenlogan Park and Winter Stakes look suitable races for her."
