Trainer Robbie Heathcote will raise the winter carnival bar for talented sprinter On The Fridge to include the Stradbroke Handicap following the mare's brilliant victory at Eagle Farm.

Ridden by Jason Holder, On The Fridge stormed home for her sixth win in 11 starts in Saturday's Listed Just Now Handicap (1300m) when she edged out Gold Coast mare Satsang by a short half head.

Heathcote has always had a big opinion of On The Fridge and had earmarked the Group One Winter Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm in June as her main winter assignment.

However, On The Fridge's victory has forced a major rethink from Heathcote.

"I was with her owner John Fish and we were bagging Jason (Holder) at the 300 metres and said she'll need to be Bernborough to win," Heathcote said.

"I've always thought she was good enough for the Winter Stakes and Glenlogan Park Stakes but I think I'll nominate her as well for the Stradbroke Handicap.

"She'll get in with a nice weight around 49 kilos.

"I know it's aiming high but she's the best finisher I've ever had."

Holder believed his decision to track runner-up Satsang before the home turn paved the way for the mare's victory.

"She's very competitive but the difference today was when I was able to track Satsang instead of trying to take a short cut," Holder said.

Meanwhile trainer Allan Denham will take the easier option and aim Strat's Flyer at the Listed Bernborough Handicap (1615m) at Doomben on Saturday week following the five-year-old's narrow win in Saturday's Strawberry Road Handicap (1600m).

Strat's Flyer held on to win for the fifth time in his career when he edged out the Liam Birchley-trained pair Pepperwood and Rags To Riches in a close finish.

Denham had the choice of returning home with Strat's Flyer for next week's Group Three Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick but has elected to remain in Brisbane for the Bernborough.

"The Bernborough looks an easier race than the Villiers and while he's here he might as well stay for it," Denham said.

Birchley will take the same path to the Bernborough Handicap with Pepperwood but will send Rags To Riches down for the Villiers if he gets a satisfactory weight.

"Pepperwood's run was very good and he'll go on to the Bernborough and I'll see what weight Rags To Riches gets in the Villiers and see what the weather is like next week before deciding if he goes to Sydney," he said.

"If it's wet in Sydney Rags To Riches will come right into the Villiers."
