Doomben was considered in grave doubt following almost 300 millimetres of rain this week until a break in the weather came on Thursday.
The track has been rated a heavy 10 following an inspection by Queensland Racing Limited chairman of stewards Wade Birch and Doomben course manager Warren Williams.
Birch was surprised how quickly Doomben had recovered following this week's deluge with only 10 millimetres of rain recorded overnight.
"The track has improved considerably since I inspected it yesterday afternoon and if we had to we could possibly race on it today," Birch said.
"The long-term outlook has improved and it is highly probably Doomben will receive only minimal rain before Saturday."
However, the fate of the Doomben meeting still remains unclear despite the sunny skies.
A Brisbane weather bureau spokesman said the bulk of the heavy rain had moved out to sea but a low off the coast was still causing concern and could threaten Brisbane for the next couple of days.
"The trough has moved off-shore but we can't rule out more heavy falls," the spokesman said.
