David Hayes salvaged a consolation win on Cox Plate day when Bauble gave him his third consecutive Arrow Training Services Stakes at Moonee Valley.

The three-year-old filly joined his past winners of the Listed 1600m race, Manna Miss in 2006 and Miss Marielle last year.

Both were ridden by Craig Williams who also partnered Bauble on Saturday.

Hayes admitted it had been a lean spring for the stable but he is hopeful that Bauble can kick-start a resurrection of its fortunes.

"It is the first year since I've been training that I haven't had a Cox Plate runner, so that says a bit," Hayes said.

"We have been marred by a lot of injuries and other things but we have got a lot of horses coming into form in the next couple of meetings so it is not over yet."

A daughter of Hurricane Sky from Hennessy mare Scot's Flyer, Bauble broke through for her first win in five starts on Saturday.

She had previously finished second three times, including last start when luckless in a $60,000 maiden at Moonee Valley.

Williams settled Bauble in fourth place in the seven-horse field and was able to adjust his race plan as Darren Gauci rode a tactical race on Roobles who dictated in front at a fluctuating speed.

"Darren slowed it up, pinched a break, slowed up and then kicked away again and it probably put a lot of horses out of their game and she (Bauble) was one of them," Williams said.

He said Bauble picked up well when he asked her and he predicted better wins in store for her after scoring by a length from Kelconi with Fly Higher 1-1/4 lengths away third.

"There is plenty of upside to her especially the way she won today," Williams said.

Hayes said Bauble would have her next run in the Spring Fashion Stakes (1800m) at Flemington on Oaks Day.

"Miss Marielle won that race at Flemington last year and that's the way we will go with this filly," Hayes said.

"The good thing about today is that she is now a stakeswinner and it has protected her value for the rest of her life."
