Havatryst has benefited from his recent Sydney victory and will aim to keep his unbeaten record intact at Randwick on Saturday.

The Queenslander got the job done narrowly at his Sydney debut on Boxing Day - his third win from as many starts - but trainer Barry Baldwin believes there will be further improvement from the promising sprinter in Saturday's 3YO Benchmark 75 (1200m).

Tim Clark retains the ride after partnering the son of Foreplay last start.

"When he first arrived in Sydney he took a couple of days to settle in and I think he was still settling in when he raced," Baldwin said.

"It was a good win and he would have improved from that.

"He's now settled in down there and he's done quite well since his last run.

"He'll be a good chance in that race."

Havatryst won his maiden by six lengths at Eagle Farm in September and then scored a narrow victory in a 3YO Open Handicap (1200m) at his next start before he was sent for a spell.

Baldwin brought the talented galloper to Sydney for a summer campaign aimed at getting him ready for the Queensland winter carnival, and he knuckled down to his task on Boxing Day to defeat Posh Chic by a neck over 1200m at Randwick.

"The whole idea of getting him down to Sydney was to try and get a bit of prizemoney for him which will make things a lot easier in the winter (to get into races)," Baldwin said.

Likely competition for Havatryst in Saturday's race is the Joe Pride-trained Flying Empress who Clark rode to an impressive first-up win at Canterbury on December 22.

Flying Empress is unbeaten in two starts.

The Tony Vasil-trained Intencion, second favourite for Saturday week's Magic Millions Guineas, is among the nominations but is also entered for a race at Caulfield.

Brisbane-based Baldwin has campaigned both Havatryst and Demanding Miss in Sydney this summer and is about to add to that with stakeswinning sprinter Burdekin Blues set to head south next week.

"He'll probably race on the 14th of January at Canterbury (in the Listed Canterbury Classic)," Baldwin said.

"There's always the race three weeks later that he won two years ago too, the (Group Two) Expressway Stakes.

"(But) at the moment the Canterbury Classic is on his agenda."

Burdekin Blues was fifth in the Bat Out Of Hell (900m) at the Gold Coast on New Year's Day on a heavy track.

"He definitely didn't handle the track but it hasn't knocked him about which I'm pleased about," Baldwin said.
