Flying Empress will confirm autumn carnival plans if she remains unbeaten at Randwick on Saturday.

The talented filly will be given her first Saturday test in the JB (Barry) Maher Memorial Handicap (1200m) with Joe Pride already looking ahead to the Sydney autumn carnival.

"She runs on Saturday and if she wins she'll be put away for a short break and come back in the thick of it in the autumn," Pride said.

The Warwick Farm trainer has plenty of options for the daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus, including the Group Two Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) on February 12.

"It's not that far away now but we'd definitely consider a race like that," Pride said.

"There's plenty of other races there too like the (Listed) PJ Bell and there's that second tier of races.

"But the thing is we'll be coming back in the autumn for a reason, and that's to chase some black type with her.

"She's got to prove she's up to that and Saturday will give her an opportunity to do that."

The three-year-old Benchmark 75 Handicap has attracted a handy field including unbeaten Queenslander Havatryst and Magic Millions Guineas second favourite Intencion.

Flying Empress impressed first-up at Canterbury on December 22 with an on-pace 2-1/4-length win.

"She just looked really good and ran the time to prove it," Pride said.

"It wasn't a soft win, it was a race where they made her work. I realise on the day that most leaders won but they didn't win like she did."

Corey Brown, who was suspended and on holidays when the filly won first-up, replaces Tim Clark with Clark to partner Havatryst.

Rain in Sydney on Thursday night also didn't dampen the spirits of Pride as Flying Empress won on a heavy track at Canterbury on debut in July.

The track was rated in the dead range on Friday with 16mm of rain for the week.

"It's a good race," Pride said.

"She's won on wet and dry tracks and she's filling us with confidence that she's a good filly."

Flying Empress is the $3 favourite with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Intencion ($3.80) and Havatryst ($4.40).

Last-start winner Somepin Anypin has been the subject of strong support, firming from $6 to $4.60.

Trainer Tony Vasil opted for the Randwick 1200m race over an 1100m event at Caulfield for Intencion who is on a prizemoney mission to get into Saturday week's $1 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m).

Intencion has won one of his six starts and showed his talent during the Melbourne spring carnival with a close third in the Group Three McNeil Stakes and fourth, beaten less than a length, in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude.

Beating him home in the Prelude were Group One winners Anacheeva, Toorak Toff and Skilled.
