A Group One breakthrough with Rostova has fuelled plans to take her to Sydney for next month's Galaxy at Randwick.

Flemington trainer Steve Richards said the Group One Galaxy (1100m) on April 17 would be a nice progression for the Testa Rossa filly after she beat the fillies and mares in Saturday's Sportingbet Classic (1200m) at Morphettville.

"She pulled up absolutely super after Saturday and we will see how she goes in the next couple of weeks," Richards said.

"The Galaxy is a race we are thinking of now as it is a race where the speed is on and she sits off the pace so I think it would suit her."

Rostova has won five of her 14 starts but the Sportingbet Classic was her first victory as a three-year-old.

She won four of her five starts as a two-year-old, all them stakes races, including the Group Two VRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington in March last year.

Richards said that the Sires win, while impressive, flattered Rostova and that she was most effective in sprints up to 1200 metres.

Rostova's Sportingbet Classic win only came after she was unplaced over 1400 metres in both the Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield in February and Kewney Stakes at Flemington.

"She doesn't run a strong 1400 metres," Richards said.

"We gave it a shot this campaign but when you are up against the quality of (VRC Oaks and Kewney winner) Faint Perfume and the like it finds her out.

"If you look at all her two-year-old form she would always get back off the pace and then gather them up.

"She has got that turn of foot in those shorter races."
