Fresh from a winning treble on her home turf at Randwick last Saturday, Gai Waterhouse is set to carry the hopes of punters on Theo Marks Stakes day at Rosehill.

Glamour mare More Joyous has been installed the $2.40 favourite for the feature event while exciting staying prospect Herculian Prince is the even-money favourite in the Kingston Town Stakes (2000m).

Waterhouse also has leading chances in the Listed Heritage Stakes (Halekulani) and Group Three Research Stakes (Montana Flyer), along with Zutara (Bacardi Breezer Hcp), unbeaten Pureness (Soft As Soap Hcp) and last-start winner Stratofortress (Tony And Manera Lahood Hcp).

More Joyous was brilliant first-up in the Sheraco Stakes (1100m) when she jumped from a wide barrier and carried 59 kilograms to an easy victory.

"It wasn't unexpected but I was over the moon (with her first-up win)," Waterhouse said.

"And more importantly I'm over the moon with the way she's sustaining the strength in her work.

"She's big, strong, wonderfully feminine and just knows that she's the goods, like all good horses do."

The four-year-old hasn't tasted defeat in more than 12 months and Waterhouse is expecting that streak to continue on Saturday despite the mare taking on a high-class field.

"I think she'll win and I rang John (owner John Singleton) and told him that," she said.

AJC Australian Derby runner-up Descarado joins More Joyous in the Theo Marks after finishing 10th in his Warwick Stakes return.

"I was happy with Descarado going into his first run but after it he just sort of fell away on me and I just had to get the condition back on him," Waterhouse said.

"He's cherry ripe for this Saturday now."

Herculian Prince is the $7 favourite for the Group One Metropolitan Handicap (2400m) on October 2 but Waterhouse says a start in that race is still to be decided after the five-year-old runs in the Kingston Town Stakes.

The trainer's main focus with Herculian Prince is to get him qualified for the first Tuesday in November.

"That's the immediate goal," Waterhouse said.

"I'm not sure which way I'll go. I'm a little bit in two minds but after Saturday I'll completely confirm, do I stay here for the Metropolitan or do I get him to Melbourne?"

The gelding is backing up after an excellent third in the Group Three Tramway Handicap (1400m) last weekend and has been dominant in his only two starts over similar distances - winning the Listed Neville Sellwood (1900m) and Listed JRA Plate (2000m) during the autumn carnival.

"I'm delighted with the way he's coming up," Waterhouse said.

"He's a good horse this Herculian Prince."
