Gai Waterhouse may have the spring at her mercy...Well, that's the line the general racing media is pushing in the wake of Pierro's slashing win at Rosehill on Saturday. Triple crown-winner Pierro took his unbeaten record to seven in the Run To The Rose at Rosehill while Gai's 'lesser lights' Proisir and Glencadam Gold also posted impressive victories. Sportingbet chief Michael Sullivan says: 'If she does this for the rest of the spring it is going to be a long spring for us.' Gai has the top three in betting for the Caulfield Guineas on Oct 13 - Pierro is $2.05 fav in front of Kabayan ($12), who was a terrific 2nd in the McNeil Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday, and the unbeaten Proisir ($14). Gai will miss the Golden Rose with Pierro and instead she has nominated Kabayan as the stable's rep in the big race on Saturday week at Rosehill.

There's lots more firepower in the Gai Waterhouse locker. Try More Joyous, Strawberry Boy and Nobby Snip! More Joyous is expected to have two runs in Sydney before going to Melbourne for the Cox Plate. Gai says: 'Pierro will run in the Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley on September 28 then the Caulfield Guineas and we will look at the Cox Plate after that...We're going to have a big team down in Melbourne.' Premier's Cup winner Glencadam Gold has had two starts in Australia for two wins and will try to qualify for the Melbourne Cup via the Newcastle Cup on Sep 20. John Singleton's promising Strawberry Boy will tackle restricted company at Warwick Farm on Saturday and Gai's plan is to qualify him for the Caulfield Cup. She also has the exciting Nobby Snip returning from a spell in the Concorde Stks at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

Another Arc bid looms for Danedream who had to dig deep to regain her crown in the Longines - Grosser Preis Von Baden at Baden-Baden in Germany on Sunday, reports Sportinglife.com. There were concerns that the combination of a little cut in the ground and a potentially slow pace in an eight runner tactical contest would count against last year's winner of the Group One mile and a half contest. Last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine had to work quite hard to hold off the determined challenges of Ovambo Queen and German Derby winner Pastorius.
