Imported galloper Sound Of Nature, one of six tried horses bought in England by Lee Freedman late last year, has his first Australian start at Sandown on Sunday.

The Chester House six-year-old is the winner of three of his seven starts from 1416m up to the 2010m of his most recent victory in a Class 4 Hcp at Leicester three starts back in May 2007.

The gelding hasn't raced since finishing seventh in the Suffolk Stakes (1800m) at Newmarket last May but is a first-up winner and Freedman was encouraged by his three-length win over Savquaw in a 990m Cranbourne barrier trial on April 21.

Sound Of Nature will be ridden by Dwayne Dunn in the Greater Dandenong Chamber Of Commerce Hcp (1300m) and has drawn barrier five in the 15-horse field.

"He's the zippiest out of the whole lot of them. He's had three wins from seven starts and he's a six-year-old," Freedman said.

"He won his trial very, very well and I expect him to run well."

Three of the overseas horses ran at Sale on Friday with Trenchtown finishing fourth to Red Hustler in a Class 1 Hcp (1500m), Timetable running 10th to Blue Collar Jill in a Rating 72 Hcp (1400m) and Woodcutter who was ninth to Royal Inquest in a Rating 68 (1700m).

"I was satisfied with all of them, I think there is some ability there," Freedman said.

"They all have good actions and they have adapted to the Australian way of racing in their trials and they have all come through well."

Freedman said five of the six would run before being put away for staying preparations in the spring.

"One (Measurement) is only a three-year-old so he probably won't run this preparation," he said of the son of Viking Ruler who was unbeaten in two starts as a two-year-old.

"They were all entires but they were all gelded and thrown out into a paddock at Newmarket for a few weeks before they went into quarantine and they seemed to have thrived.

"They are all sound and can gallop and I see it as a short cut to the staying races.

"I think they will all win here, I'm not sure at what level, but if we can achieve that it will give us the incentive to go back and buy some more."
