Lee Freedman is looking forward to seeing two-year-old filly Andromache make her race debut in Saturday's Midnight Fever Plate at Sandown.

A $270,000 purchase at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney, Andromache is by Charge Forward out of the Defensive Play filly Mythical Play, a dual Group One winner who was the champion three-year-old filly in South Africa in 2000.

"She's a really nice type of filly, a big strong filly and she's showing us nice ability," Freedman said.

"We feel that 1200 metres will suit her better first up than 1000 metres as they might run her off her legs over a 1000 but we're expecting her to run pretty well."

Freedman, who has more than 80 two-year-olds in his team, has been very patient with his juveniles so far this season with very few of them having raced.

"We've held a lot of them back and given them time to mature. We're still sorting through them but I wouldn't put her (Andromache) in the top echelon of our short course two-year-olds.

"But certainly with maturity, with the work she has shown us, she should be able to make that step up to stakes class eventually."

Freedman will run three of his two year-olds at Caulfield on Tuesday with Pellizotti running in the Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for colts and geldings, while Namaste and Koala Bear are engaged in the fillies Preview.

Stratum colt Pellizotti was placed behind Sweet Cheeks in the Scalzo Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on October 3 at his only outing.

Exceed And Excel filly Namaste won a Seymour two-year-old fillies maiden by five lengths at her third start on January 7, while Koala Bear, also a daughter of Exeed And Excel, is making her debut.

Among Andromache's opposition on Saturday is the Peter Snowden-trained Affluence, a colt by Lonhro also making his debut.

The Snowden stable won the same race last year with Killian.

Another first starter in the race is the Danny O'Brien-trained Meaisin, a stablemate and half brother to Group Two winner Vigor.

The Zabeel colt cost $NZ300,000 at the New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale at Karaka.

Of the four horses to have raced in the field of 12 only the John White trained Nosteppins has won.

The Snippetson filly, a $13,000 buy at the Magic Millions Select Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, won a Cranbourne two-year-old maiden (1200m) at her second start before running third to Panipique in a two-year-old fillies event over 1000m at Moonee Valley, both this month.
