Peter Snowden said he had former Darley general manger Ollie Tait to thank after Forensics gave him first Group One winner in Melbourne and his third overall with a comfortable win in Saturday's Myer Classic at Flemington.

The 2007 Golden Slipper winner when prepared by John Hawkes, Forensics gave Snowden his first win at the highest level in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1550m) at Canterbury in April.

The trainer said there had been some thought she may be retired after last autumn with a stud career in mind for her.

"It was Ollie Tait who said to push on with her," the trainer said.

Snowden, who took over as trainer for Sheikh Mohammed when he bought out the mammoth bloodstock interests of Woodlands Stud early this year, has a soft spot for the Flying Spur four-year-old mare.

"She's been so good to me and is our whole operation," Snowden said.

"Her preparation has been perfect. Her run in Sydney was great and her (lead-up) run in Melbourne was fantastic and she's just done so well since.

"I'm just over the moon. It (the operation) might be in my name, but there are a thousand people out there who do all the work and I'm so proud for them."

Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Forensics ($3.30 fav) scored by 1-1/4 lengths from Absolutelyfabulous ($13) with Mimi Lebrock ($6) 1-1/2 lengths away third.

"She'll have a well-earned break now and we'll look at the autumn and have a crack at one of those Group Ones in Sydney," Snowden said.

It was Snowden's second Group One win this spring, the other with Sousa in the Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick.

The win gave McEvoy his second Group One success of the Melbourne spring after his Caulfield Cup victory on the Godolphin-owned All The Good.

Newcastle trainer Kris Lees was delighted with the runner-up Absolutelyfabulous.

"She's never raced better," he said.

"Corey (Brown) tracked the winner all the way and ran her back to a bit more than a length.

"She'll go for a spell and come back for the autumn."
