Duporth will undergo a veterinary examination before he runs at Randwick on Saturday with trainer Anthony Cummings to make a last-minute call on which race the exciting colt contests.

The $1 million Golden Rose winner is a dual acceptor, for the Group One George Main Stakes (1600m) and the Group Two Stan Fox Stakes (1400m).

Racing NSW stewards interviewed Cummings at Wednesday's Canterbury meeting in relation to media reports that Duporth had suffered a setback following his Golden Rose win on August 30.

Cummings told them that Duporth did not fully extend in his trackwork and a veterinary examination had determined a muscle strain in the colt's near-hind leg.

The injury caused Duporth to miss some work but Cummings said the colt had turned in some pleasing gallops this week, with his most recent hitout on Thursday morning at Randwick.

"I'm very happy with the way he's going, he's had a few gallops now and the work and times have been excellent," Cummings said.

"He's looked very strong in his work and he's pulled up well from the runs too and he's on-song for the weekend.

"I'll be making a decision on which race he runs in on Saturday morning."

TAB Sportsbet has Duporth as its $6 third favourite to win the weight-for-age George Main Stakes.

If he runs in the Group One race, he will carry 50.5kg and have the services of outstanding Melbourne lightweight jockey Craig Williams.

Regular jockey Hugh Bowman has the ride if he starts in the Stan Fox in which he carries 56.5kg.

"Craig's a terrific rider and a proven performer in big races and it will be a pleasure to have him on board if we go that way," Cummings said.

Three-year-olds have the best recent record in the George Main Stakes winning seven of the last 20 runnings.

Duporth is the only three-year-old in Saturday's field.

Doncaster Handicap winner Triple Honour is the $1.90 favourite for the George Main Stakes ahead of Gallant Tess at $4.

The pair clashed in the Group Two Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick on September 9 with Gallant Tess scoring by a length after Triple Honour hung in badly over the closing stages.

Duporth is the $2.60 favourite for the Stan Fox Stakes with Love And Kisses equal second pick at $4.20 with Up And Coming Stakes winner Dreamscape.
