Further spring plans for early season three-year-old star Duporth will rest on a Randwick track gallop on Tuesday morning.

With questions over his fitness since he won the $1 million Golden Rose last month, Duporth is scheduled to have a searching workout.

The gallop will be Duporth's second in four days after trainer Anthony Cummings reported the colt had suffered a "slight muscle injury" following his Golden Rose triumph.

"He came through his work on Saturday in good order but we'll know a lot more after tomorrow," Cummings said on Monday.

Cummings said Duporth would be sent over 1200 metres in preparation for a return to racing at the opening day of the Australian Jockey Club's spring carnival on Saturday.

Duporth has been strongly tipped to take on older horses in the weight-for-age George Main Stakes with Melbourne jockey Craig Williams on standby for the mount.

However, Cummings said it "wasn't a given" Duporth would take his place in the Group One mile race.

"I have also nominated him for the Stan Fox Stakes and I'll make a decision after he works."

Under the weight-for-age scale, Duporth will carry 50.5kg in the George Main. It's a weight too light for regular rider Hugh Bowman.

But if Cummings decides the Stan Fox is a better option, Duporth will carry 56.5kg under the set weights conditions, allowing Bowman to take the mount.

Duporth has won two of his three starts since resuming. He stamped himself as a serious racehorse when he overcame a chequered passage to claim the Golden Rose at Rosehill on August 30.

Cummings has also nominated Raheeb for the George Main but he said the Epsom Handicap favourite's entry was precautionary.

"My preference is to trial him at Randwick on Friday," Cummings said.

Raheeb rocketed to the top of betting for the Group One Epsom on Saturday week with an authoritative win in the Cameron Handicap at Newcastle last week.

Stablemate Red Lord will also be given a trial hit-out as a lead-in to the Group One The Metropolitan.

Red Lord has held favouritism on the race for almost a month, ensuring Cummings will be in the enviable position of saddling up the top fancies in the AJC's premier spring handicap features.
