The Mike Moroney-trained Deraismes could be Queensland-bound following her easy win in the Bunratty Castle Handicap at Sandown on Wednesday.

The five-year-old daughter of Grand Lodge made it two Sandown 2100m wins from her past three starts, having run seventh to Hissing Sid in the Warrnambool Cup (2350m) in between.

Ridden by Glen Boss, Deraismes ($6.50) sat third in the run and kicked away in the straight to score by 2-1/4 lengths from Tellan Dave ($26) with race leader Determination ($6) a half-length away third.

"She's been a slow-maturing mare but she's racing well and we'd like her to get some black type," Moroney's stable manager Anthony Feroce said.

"There's a race for her here or we might take her to Queensland for the Ipswich Cup or the Caloundra Cup."

The Melbourne race Feroce was referring to is the Luther's Luck Hcp (2400m) at Sandown on June 13 which is heat four of the Banjo Paterson series.

The $150,000 final of that series is run over 2500m at Flemington on July 4.

The Moroney stable had the disappointment of losing one of its Queensland Oaks contenders, Revoke, who fractured a hind leg after working at Eagle Farm on Tuesday morning.

Craig Williams will ride stablemate Prix Du Sang who drew barrier 15 in the 19-horse field for Saturday's Group One $400,000 Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm.

Last year's Stradbroke Handicap winner Mr Baritone will run in the Group Two QTC Cup (1300m).

Earlier at Wednesday's Lakeside meeting the Patinack Farm-owned two-year-old filly Gardner, prepared by Jason Coyle, impressively won the Star Shower Hcp (1400m) despite slipping on the home turn.

"When I came out at the top of the corner she really slipped badly and lost momentum," jockey Craig Newitt said.

"It took some hard riding to get to them and once she put a half-length on them she lost the plot and wanted to wander around but I think she's got good ability."

Sent out at $8, Gardner scored by a short head from Gauteng ($9) with Kidnapped ($4.80) a long neck away third.

As a result of Gardner slipping, jockeys and stewards, led by acting chairman of stewards Peter Ryan, inspected the track which had to be aerated with a harrower and the second race was delayed by 21 minutes.

Newitt said the track was firm underfoot but a bit slippery on top due to drizzling rain.

The track raced without incident for the rest of the day.
