A syndicate headed by BC3 Thoroughbreds and Bill Vlahos

A syndicate headed by BC3 Thoroughbreds and Bill Vlahos this afternoon paid an Australian record $5 million for Black Caviar’s yearling half-brother by champion sire Redoute’s Choice.

Last year Vlahos paid $2.6 million for a half-sister to Black Caviar, now named Belle Coutoure currently being trained by Danny O’Brien at Flemington. Today's $5 million price tag broke the Australian yearling record price of $3.6 million.

“We know how good the filly goes and by the time this guy gets to the racetrack she will have won a good race,” an excited Vlahos said on TVN immediately after today’s purchase.

“We’ve had people jumping out of trees wanting to be in the colt.

"There’s a little bit of him left,” Vlahos added.

He said a trainer for the colt had not yet been decided.

“Maybe the trainer might like to put some of his owners into him when we get to talking about that,” he said. (racingnetwork)
